Ingredients:
- 24 oz. shells
- 1 ½ lbs. Italian sausage
- Olive oil as needed (to cook sausage)
- 5-6 cups mozzarella cheese plus extras for top
- 1 cup parmesan cheese
- 1 cup pecorino romano cheese
- 1 ½ large containers small curd cottage cheese
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup basil, chopped
- 15 cloves of garlic
- 2 t garlic powder
- Fennel to taste
- Pepper to taste
- 4, 24 oz. jars of sauce
Directions:
- Cook shells until al dente.
- Brown Italian sausage in olive oil and drain.
- Mix together all ingredients (besides shells and sauce) with your hands.
- Add a layer of sauce to the bottom of baking dish.
- Add about 1 ½ spoonfuls of filling into each shell and line in a sauced dish (once layer is done, add another layer of sauce and add another layer of shells.
- Add a last layer of sauce over the shells and top with mozzarella.
- Bake at 350° until warmed and the cheese on top is melted.
