Sushi Rice

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups sushi rice, rinsed
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/2 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Directions:

  1. Place rice and water into a pot that has a lid.
  2. Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer.
  3. Simmer with the lid on for about 15-20 minutes or until your rice is cooked.
  4. Combine the rest of the ingredients in a saucepan and heat until sugar is dissolved.
  5. Pour rice into a heat safe bowl. Top with vinegar mixture and stir.
  6. As the rice cools, it will absorb the liquid.
  7. Once rice is room temperature, make nigiri, sushi rolls, crispy rice, etc.
