Beef & Broccoli

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 lb flank steak, sliced thin
  • 3-5 cups broccoli florets (depends on preference)
  • ~1/2 cup water, divided
  • 1.5 T cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1 T grated ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 T sesame oil
  • 2 T oyster sauce
  • 1/4 cup sriracha, optional
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • EVOO to cook

Directions:

  1. Heat a pan or wok with about 2 T EVOO on medium heat
  2. Add broccoli to the pan and season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 2 minutes.
  3. Add about 2 T water to the broccoli and cook for another 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the broccoli is almost tender (it will cook more once added back in with the sauce).
  4. Take the broccoli out of the pan and set to the side.
  5. Add another 2 T EVOO to the pan and turn up the heat to medium high. Add the sliced steak and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Cook for about 1-2 minutes per side.
  7. Whisk together the rest of the ingredients to make the sauce.
  8. Turn the heat down to medium low and add the sauce and broccoli to the pan, tossing until desired consistency, about 2-4 minutes.
  9. Serve over rice and add sesame seeds and red pepper flakes, if desired.
