Spices & Sprinkles explores a variety of recipes from savory dishes to sweet desserts. This blog is fairly different from the “average” food blog because I don’t have a lot of stories behind my recipes and if I’m being honest scrolling through a novel about a stranger’s great aunt who used to make some random cake every year before getting to the actual recipe is one of my pet peeves. I cook because I enjoy expressing my creativity through food and find calmness and comfort in serving a good meal or decadent dessert to anyone will sit at my dining room table.
You will notice a lot of my recipes don’t have exact measurements for spices and seasonings – trust your gut. Cooking should be fun, not stressful and you can use your judgment for most things (you know not to add a whole cup of salt to most dishes). If knowing your seasonings aren’t your thing, start with about 1/2-1 teaspoon and then taste as you go because you may like it different anyway. Remember – baking is a science, cooking is an art.
I started collecting and writing down my recipes to make a cookbook for my mom, so a lot of my recipes don’t have photos (especially good ones) but as I recreate recipes, I will add photos.
